Full-stack engineering, backend first.

I build full-stack products from the database and API layer through to responsive interfaces, with a bias for reliable backend systems, tested code, and measurable results.

A working profile

I build web products from the persistence and service layers outward: data models, APIs, authentication, workers, caching, tests, and the responsive interfaces that make those systems useful.

Backend engineering

Node.js, Express, Go, Redis, BullMQ, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, authentication, queues, and production-minded APIs.

Full-stack delivery

Next.js, React, and TypeScript interfaces connected to real data, tested workflows, and clear product boundaries.

Systems foundations

Database design, distributed workers, caching, testing, Docker, Linux, algorithms, and performance analysis.

Selected engineering · 2024—2026

Backend-led products and systems.

The primary work is full-stack and backend engineering: distributed workers, production-minded APIs, database-backed services, and web interfaces. Algorithm and ML work follows as supporting range.

Mithril Tiles

Real-time multiplayer drawing and guessing game with a Go WebSocket backend, PostgreSQL persistence, and a TypeScript frontend.

  • Used Go room actors for authoritative player, round, score, and game-lifecycle state.
  • Built an authenticated Next.js BFF flow with HttpOnly session cookies and single-use WebSocket tickets.
  • Persisted games, participants, rounds, and final scores in PostgreSQL.

Uptime Monitor

Distributed uptime monitoring system with a decoupled producer-consumer architecture for scalable heartbeat jobs.

  • Built a full-stack uptime monitoring platform with a React 19/Vite dashboard and Node.js/Express backend, exposing 11 API routes for live status, latency trends, uptime reports, SSL expiry tracking, and incident alerts.
  • Implemented two Redis/BullMQ pipelines for recurring checks and notifications, with a 10-jobs/second rate limit, HTTP/TLS validation, three-failure incident thresholds, and z-score anomaly detection over 10 checks.
  • Authored 37 Vitest tests—21 unit, 13 integration, and 3 end-to-end—covering authentication, validation, notifications, worker behavior, SSL checks, and monitor state transitions.

Algorithmic Analysis and Visualization

High-performance divide-and-conquer toolkit with C++ implementations and a Next.js visualization layer.

  • Built 13+ algorithms including Karatsuba and Closest Pair.
  • Visualized recursive state changes with a TypeScript dashboard.
  • Validated complexity with 40+ automated benchmarks on 1k+ datasets.

Durin's Code

A C++ DSL that compiles interactive text adventures into playable game engines.

  • Designed language rules for rooms, actions, inventory, and branching game states.
  • Built a compiler-style pipeline for parsing adventure definitions.
  • Published an interactive project page through GitHub Pages.

ScadrialAPI

Production-minded Go REST API with PostgreSQL, token auth, RBAC, Swagger docs, migrations, and E2E tests.

  • Structured a Go service around clear API boundaries and database-backed workflows.
  • Added token authentication and role-based authorization.
  • Documented endpoints with Swagger and migration-driven database setup.
